Ethio-China Tourism Promotion Forum Held in Beijing


Addis Ababa, November 28/2023 (ENA) The Ethio-China Tourism Promotion Forum took place in the Embassy of Ethiopia in Beijing, today with the purpose of promoting Ethiopia as a tourist destination and to attract more Chinese tourists to the country.

Ethiopian Ambassador to China, Tefera Derbew gave a compelling opening speech on the opportunities and potential in the Ethiopian tourism industry, highlighting the country’s diverse culture, breathtaking scenery, abundant wildlife, as well as its unique history and heritage.

He exhorted Chinese travel agencies to get their clients to visit Ethiopia frequently.

The forum has attracted more than 274 participants from 214 tourism associations and tour operators, according to Embassy of Ethiopia in Beijing.

Additionally, representatives from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the China People’s Republic and the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism were in attendance.

From the Ethiopian side, the Minister of Culture and Sports, the Minister of Tourism, the Director General for Middle East, Asia, and Oceania Affair of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ethiopian Airlines Beijing Branch Manager, and the Ethiopian Tour Association President delivered speeches and presentations regarding tourism opportunities in Ethiopia.

Attendees emphasized the need for Chinese tourists to have a deeper understanding of Ethiopian culture and history in order to fully appreciate the country as a tourist destination.
