Minor Hotels to debut Anantara brand in Austria

Minor Hotels has announced plans to rebadge Vienna’s Palais Hansen Kempinski under its Anantara brand as it continues to expand the latter’s presence in Europe.

Set to launch in March 2024, the rebranded Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel will feature 152 guest rooms and suites across three floors, a Michelin-starred restaurant, lobby lounge and bar as well as a cigar lounge, indoor pool, fitness centre and spa. The hotel also houses 10 function rooms, including a ballroom that can accommodate up to 265 conference delegates.

Situated in the heart of the Austrian capital, the hotel occupies a historically-listed palace built in 1873. Over the years, the palace has served as various municipal offices and cultural venues, before being transformed into a luxury hotel in 2013, currently operating as Palais Hansen Kempinski.

Following the rebrand, the hotel will undergo “a significant renovation” throughout 2024 and into 2025. The refurbishment will include guest rooms, the lobby, meeting spaces, restaurants and bars. The existing spa will also be “enhanced” and relaunched as an Anantara Spa.

“We are thrilled to be bringing the Anantara brand to Vienna… Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel will offer an unparalleled experience of luxury, elegance and hospitality in the heart of one of Europe’s most beautiful cities,” said Dillip Rajakarier, group CEO of Minor International and CEO of Minor Hotels.

“This is an exciting milestone for both Minor Hotels and Anantara, as we continue to expand our presence and brand portfolio across the continent.”

Anantara debuted in Europe in 2017 with the launch of Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort in Portugal. The brand has since expanded into Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, Hungary, France and most recently into Ireland, with the opening of Anantara The Marker Dublin Hotel in May.
