Germany and France to play two games before 2024 Paris Olympics

Weeks before the start of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, two of the best basketball national teams will meet against one another.

The current FIBA World Cup champion Germany will play against the hosts of the Olympics – France – almost three weeks before the Paris Games, the German Basketball Federation (DBB) announced.

The game will take place on July 4th at 4 PM local time at LANXESS Arena in Cologne. The two squads will also play a match in France, but its date and time haven’t been disclosed yet. Tickets to the match in Germany can be bought here.

After a fiasco at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, France will look to bounce back in the Olympics. The roster will be bolstered by San Antonio Spurs young phenom Victor Wembanyama.

Germany, meanwhile, surprised the world last summer, beating Team USA and Canada en route to a title. Dennis Schroder was named the tournament’s MVP. The two teams have met 68 times, with 44 wins going to France.
